Sweet, spicy, and crispy – this hot honey chicken bowl layers crunchy chicken bites with sticky hot honey glaze over warm rice and fresh toppings. A crave-worthy weeknight dinner or meal prep winner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Oil for frying

Hot Honey Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey

  • 2 tbsp hot sauce

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • ¼ tsp chili flakes

Base & Toppings:

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice

  • 1 cup shredded slaw or cabbage

  • Sliced cucumbers, pickled onions, sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper.

  • Mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder in a bowl.

  • Dip chicken into beaten egg, then coat in flour mixture. Let rest.

  • Heat oil in skillet and fry chicken until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  • In a saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, vinegar, and chili flakes. Warm gently.

  • Toss crispy chicken in hot honey sauce until well coated.

  • Assemble bowls with rice, chicken, and toppings of choice. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Air fryer option: 400°F for 10–12 minutes

  • Vegan option: Use tofu or cauliflower

  • Gluten-free: Use GF flour and breadcrumbs

  • Store sauce and chicken separately to maintain crispiness
