Savory Thai basil beef wrapped in crisp lettuce or rice paper with fresh herbs and veggies. A flavorful, hand-held meal perfect for lunch, dinner, or entertaining.
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp oil
1 shallot or ½ red onion, sliced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 red chili, minced (or red pepper flakes)
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
1 cup Thai basil leaves
Lettuce leaves or rice paper wrappers
Fresh vegetables (carrots, cucumber, bell pepper)
Fresh herbs (mint, cilantro)
Optional Dipping Sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp honey
1 tsp chili garlic sauce
Juice of ½ lime
Heat oil in a skillet. Sauté onion, garlic, and chili until fragrant.
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in sauces and sugar. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
Stir in Thai basil and turn off heat.
Assemble rolls with beef, vegetables, and herbs in lettuce leaves or softened rice paper.
Mix dipping sauce ingredients and serve with rolls.
Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for variations.
Add chopped peanuts or lime for extra flavor.
Serve as wraps, rice bowls, or appetizers.
