Savory Thai basil beef wrapped in crisp lettuce or rice paper with fresh herbs and veggies. A flavorful, hand-held meal perfect for lunch, dinner, or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 shallot or ½ red onion, sliced

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 red chili, minced (or red pepper flakes)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves

  • Lettuce leaves or rice paper wrappers

  • Fresh vegetables (carrots, cucumber, bell pepper)

  • Fresh herbs (mint, cilantro)

Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce

  • Juice of ½ lime

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a skillet. Sauté onion, garlic, and chili until fragrant.

  • Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in sauces and sugar. Simmer 2–3 minutes.

  • Stir in Thai basil and turn off heat.

  • Assemble rolls with beef, vegetables, and herbs in lettuce leaves or softened rice paper.

  • Mix dipping sauce ingredients and serve with rolls.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for variations.

  • Add chopped peanuts or lime for extra flavor.

  • Serve as wraps, rice bowls, or appetizers.
